Dear friends,

It is with feelings of joy, respect and appreciation that I welcome you to the website of the mixed Community of Potamia, a community which constitutes a historic example of peaceful coexistence among its Greek-Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot residents.

I have had the honour to preside the Community since January 2002 and every time I address you, either through a speech, a written message or the internet, I truly feel blessed and proud for being in Potamia and getting to know its history, its people and its tradition.

Today, Potamia should be in the heart of any Cypriot patriot who really cares about the future of our small country. It has a lot to teach, examples to offer and questions, which arise to both adults and adolescents about how Potamia and its people have managed to stay away from conflicts, hostilities and collisions through the centuries, to answer.

Nowadays, Potamia constitutes a place where several fellow Cypriots can stop for a rest while enjoying the hospitality of the community. The traditional hospitality in the village’s restaurants, taverns and coffee shops make it an ideal place for entertainment, considering that it is only a few minutes’ drive from Nicosia and Larnaca and can therefore accommodate each and every one of you.

We will be more than happy to have you as our guests at our Community and it is with honesty and respect that I address this invitation to you.

Sincerely,
Ioannis Mina
Potamia Community Council President
